There will be spoilers in this so be forewarned. I started with the first one and frankly had to make myself keep going. As it went on it got better and by the end I was hooked. So I went to the next one and the next until here I am on Book 6. While there is something addicting about these I think I am finally done even though there are 2 more in the series. Here is my problem with these. Chrissy NEVER learns from her mistakes, she never seems to grow as a therapist and she never seems to grow as a person. I get that she is supposed to be somewhat zany but it has taken a 2 yr relationship and book 6 for her and Rivera to FINALLY hit the sheets. kitchen counter, floor, whatever. If the books started when she was 33 she is now 35 and lets face it, no woman who hears that clock ticking is going to waste 2 yrs before consummating a relationship and when u throw in all of the other men that 'get her endocrine system flowing' then I am just confused. In every book she seems to go off on some sort of crazy tangent in which she is likely to get herself killed and this one is no different. She crashes a celebrity party and I just couldn't read it bc it seemed so stupid. that is of course not the only thing that she does that is stupid but I don't think this author is going anywhere with this character. Maybe it is that I have read them in sequence so that the writing seems really repetitious but when I read the synopses for the last 2 and she is still vacillating on her relationship with Rivera it is simply too much indecision for me. The writer should know that there all lots of series out there with a confirmed couple investigating crime together and separately. Perfect example is In Death series with Roark and Eve by JD Robb (Nora Roberts of course). The writer should settle this aspect once and for all and move on bc she has created great characters with depth and substance but this indecision makes me want to throw my hands up and say COME ON ALREADY!Tags : Not One Clue: A Mystery (Chrissy McMullen Mysteries) [Lois Greiman] on Amazon.com. *FREE* shipping on qualifying offers. Light read
Lois Greiman delivers another funny light mystery with Christina McMullen. Aways a quick read and laughs along the way. Keep 'em coming.
Great series. Loved this--don't know why this author isn't more well-known! Think early Janet Evanovich. Detailed mystery which isn't obvious, fun romance, interesting main character.
I am a collector of Lois Greiman books. As such when offered the latest novel, I jumped ath buying it.
The book arrived and I read it at one sitting - 12 hours, no less.
Thanks for the book.
I am a big fan of this series but it seems to have been stagnating with the last few installments. This latest entry changes that completely, it is fast paced, suspenseful and a real page turner. From start to finish the action doesn't stop. There are many shout outs to characters from prior books, which is a fun memory jog. There is some much needed character development which has made me really eager for the next book in this series to see where these characters are headed. All in all a great addition to the series.
I love this series. Chrissy does some really silly thing but I still find them books funny. The romance is great too. For me, five stars means I will definitely read it again and I'll look for other books by this author.
I have been hooked on this series since the first pages of Unzipped. These are a fun read and I pass them on to all my friends but they come back to my keeper shelf. These books are fun like the Stephanie Plum books used to be back in the beginning, but smarter. If I may say one negative thing, and it is a nitpicker... **SPOILER** Read no further if you haven't read any of these books. If not, start with Unzipped and enjoy!!... In one sentence Rivera tells McMullen that they met in Aug 2005 and she hasn't f--d him yet. Seriously?? I know the first book came out in 2005 and that's when they met, but time passage is usually not paid much attention to in series like these (that would make Stephanie Plum about 40 wouldn't it? but she is still in her late 20's) and it really bugged me that the author would do that. So are we to believe that McMullen has been holding out on this guy she is crazy about for 5 years??? Or is it only like 2006 in this story? It doesn't say and that really bugged me. It was like a pin popping the fantasy balloon in which I was immersed and was all I could think about while reading the rest of the book. But I still love this series and all the characters.
