The IronJawed Boy and the Hand of the Moon The Sky Guardian Chronicles Volume 2 Nikolas Lee 9781494318321 Books

I enjoyed the lightness of book one, which introduces us to Ion and the pantheon of the Illyrians. Book two adds to the intrigue and shifts the story unexpectedly, growing more intense and interesting. I'm anxious to know what happens next and whether Ion's journey is fatedly sealed or just beginning.

The IronJawed Boy and the Hand of the Moon The Sky Guardian Chronicles Volume 2 Nikolas Lee 9781494318321 Books Reviews

I was given this book by the author in exchange for an honest review.
Just like in the first book, I loved the characters. This book was shorter, but it was still amazing. I feel like this one was shorter because the first one did all the setting up and this one could get right to the story. I love books that get right to the story. Also, I love the fact that I never saw the ending coming.
Wow the first book was good and I like it a lot, this book was better and I loved it! We are back with Ion his sister and the other Guardians as we visit the Island home of the Illyrian Gods so the new hand of the moon can be chosen. Lady Vinya Goddess of the moon and Ion’s mother has been killed and that leaves her throne open and the moon gone. A month after the end of book one we get to see the battle for the throne of the moon and of course Ion is in the middle of it. How should the new God/Goddess be chosen but by a tournament of course, to see who is worthy to summon back the moon and restore the balance it’s absence has all but destroyed.

Action packed and yet plenty of wonderfully done world building this second book in the series keeps you reading way past your bedtime (at least it did for me, 4am O.o) The descriptions of the Gods and their surroundings made me feel like I was watching them in a movie (which I’d love to actually see what these Gods look like not to mention that island)

I’d also like to state that Nikolas Lee is master at twist ending I didn’t see any of it coming and though it ended on a cliff hanger it was so drastic that I’ll be tearing my hair out waiting for book three, which lets face it I really can’t wait for. (This is why I usually don’t read a book series till it’s finished or about to be lol)

I Highly recommend this book to anyone who like fantasy and adventure.
Ahhh these books. Lee sent me a copy to read right after I read the first and I am so glad.... It's like he's supporting my new addiction problem... These stories are so good. There are so many twists that you didn't see coming. Not as much happened in this one as opposed to the first, but it was still awesome. The tournament was incredible! And the person I wanted to win the entire time did! HAHA! (I love it when the things I want to happen actually happen in books) annnnnd the ending.... If there is one thing that I have a huge love/hate relationship with it's these endings.... They're so good and suck you in, and you turn the page hoping for another chapter..... but nope. It leaves you hanging... In a good way, like trying to fall asleep on Christmas Eve, you want it to hurry up and get here but at the same time you want to revel in the awesomeness and anticipation of what's to come.... Ugh so good, I want more!
This series MUST be read in order! The first book is The Iron-Jawed Boy (Book 1, Guardians of Illyria). This is the second book.

Ion is reunited with his father and is grieving the death of both of his mothers. (Vinya carried him to term for his mother who would have lost him without Divine intervention) If that isn't enough his sister Oceanus is incredibly jealous that he is part Illyrian God. Hallucinations plague Ionikus... of a bald young boy with gray eyes calling him a murderer. On top of all that are the extra patrols brought on by the loss of the moon which distorts the Balance towards evil making humans do bad things instead of good. It is not a good start to the second year of Ion's Guardian training... How much worse can it possibly get?

This was an awesome sequel with more hidden plots revealed and more action than the last. Just when you think you know who to trust ... hehe. The past and even the present are mysteries that need to be solved to see the whole picture but every time you think you know everything... Surprise! This is an action packed adventure full of suspense and intrigue that will satisfy mythology and fantasy fans alike. The characters are vivid and unique breathing life into their post apocalyptic world. I can't wait for the next book The Siege of Sol (Guardians of Illyria Book 3) to come out!!!

***This series is suitable for young adult through adult readers
Great sequel to the first, got right into the second quickly, missed the characters and there powers so it was great to catch up with the crew
~~~~~~~~~2.5 Stars~~~~~~~
Not a bad book but definitely not a great book. This book screamed mediocre the entire time. There was a lot of action but I never was able to immerse myself, nor did I feel connected to any of the characters.
This book kept my interest more than the first. Much more goes on in this one, and the characters are very engaging. I'm excited for the next book!
I enjoyed the lightness of book one, which introduces us to Ion and the pantheon of the Illyrians.
